In a powerful demonstration of compassion and community impact, Building Kids on the Street Foundation (also known as Street Kid Africa) organised a Free Healthcare Outreach for residents of a Lagos community on October 11, 2011.
The outreach, themed “Healthy Communities, Brighter Futures,” provided free medical consultations, drug distribution, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, malaria screening, and health education sessions to hundreds of beneficiaries, including children, women, and the elderly.
The project addressed a critical gap in access to basic healthcare services faced by many low-income families in Lagos. By the end of the day, over 100 residents had benefited from the medical support, while several others received essential medications and practical guidance on maintaining good hygiene and preventive health practices.
Speaking after the exercise, the Founder of Building Kids on the Street Foundation, Mr. Samuel Ehiwe, commended the team for their dedication and expressed heartfelt appreciation to the project partner, Oxygen X, for their collaboration and support.
“This project reflects the core mission of our Foundation — giving hope, improving lives, and building healthier communities. We are deeply grateful to our volunteers and to Oxygen X for partnering with us to make healthcare accessible to those who need it most. The joy and relief we saw on the faces of beneficiaries remind us that real impact begins with compassion and commitment,” said Mr. Ehiwe.
The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to continue carrying out impactful community projects across Nigeria, focusing on healthcare, education, and child welfare. Plans are already underway to replicate similar outreach programmes in other underserved communities in the coming months.
With initiatives like this, Building Kids on the Street Foundation (Street Kid Africa) continues to demonstrate that meaningful change is possible when people and organisations come together with a shared purpose—to uplift, empower, and give hope to those who need it most.
